Stubbornly Independent Design: Why the Tallgrass Film Festival Now Has a Logo of Its Own
For many years, Tallgrass Film Festival had operated under the logo of the Tallgrass Film Association, but as TFA continued to expand its services and programs the need for brand differentiation became more relevant. As the flagship brand of the TFA, Tallgrass Film Festival has its own substantial audience. While the TFA logo accurately portrayed the association’s roots and commitments to its home region, the festival has grown into a local and regional event with significant economic impact and even breaking into national industry conversations. We felt it was time for the festival to have a brand identity that supported the amazing trajectory of this event.
The new TFF logo celebrates the bold and “Stubbornly Independent” identity of the festival. The simple geometric mark is extremely durable and versatile: the strong lines and proprietary “Independent Orchid” color communicate the bold and vibrant personality of the festival, and with a customizable interior, the mark is capable of retaining impact within any theme—an important quality for a nationally-recognized film festival that needs to stay ahead of the cultural curve, year after year. In-the-moment patterns, icons or even video placed inside of the logo can communicate the vision and ideals of the Tallgrass Film Festival in novel ways.
Howerton+White continues to be a proud Creative Partner and longtime sponsor of the Tallgrass Film Festival. Congratulations to Tallgrass Film Association for another fantastic year!
